I bought these shoes for a trip to the Galapagos Islands and they worked out perfectly. They were great for the wet landings on the islands: climbing out of the Zodiac boats and wading through shallow water onto the islands. Then, they provided the traction I needed for hiking across the lava rocks. And the open mesh provided lots of air to my feet in the warm climate. The manufacturer recommends wearing socks with these shoes. I found that very thin cotton socks do help keep your feet in good shape in the shoes on the hikes, but I usually put them on after getting onto dry land. And these shoes are very easy to slip on and off.

Purchased for Paria Canyon backpack adventure.\r\nLaces froze first day due to mud and water conditions. If not for the adjustable heel I would not have been able to get them off. Shoestring eyelets not compatable for regular replacement laces,if I had to cut them. Very, very frustrating. Still inoperable at this time. Will consider sending these back for evaluation.\r\nNot a happy camper with this purchase!

These shoes adjust around the heel making a complete and comfortable fit. No tying required. \r\nUnique selection of colors. I have yet to find any shoe better suited for the pickiest of people, my son.

Great shoes! These are my second pair. Wore out the first ones. Dry fast, great for in-and-out of the water and great for running.

These shoes make for great beach running shoes. Excellent drainage and they now run true to size. The heel can be collapsed down and then you can use them like slip-ons.

I bought these shoes for my son before a trip to Colorado. They were true to size. He wore them hiking throughout the Rocky Mountain National Park and said they were comfortable. Great shoe for hiking in the summer!

I just bought the shoes for my upcoming trip to Japan. One of our friends recommended the style for our vacation and we all bought the same shoes. The shoes are lightweight and truly adjust to all your possible needs in a trip. We walked miles and miles per day, under all types of weather including rain and everyday they were ready for the day's challenge. Our feet never got hurt and although brand new we did not require time to adjust to the new shoes.

The Salomon Techamphibian 2 is a great shoe, very comfortable and holds up well. I wear them as a casual every day shoe in the summer instead of sandals.

I love the idea of these shoes. Great concept, imperfect execution. The tread and the quick lace system are both great, the shoe itself is great and has a very hard toe, which I love. The thing that is terrible about this shoe is the adjustable straps in the rear. They constantly loosen up. They ALWAYS loosen up! When I was breaking my shoes in by walking around my office, I noticed the straps loosening. I returned them (great customer service by Zappos) and now have a new pair which seems to be having the same problem. I haven't been able to find a comparable shoe, so I think I'm just going to keep these and see if I can get creative with some glue or stitching to keep the straps in place. If it weren't for the loosening straps, this would definitely be a 5 star shoe for hikers, bikers, walkers, casual, etc.

These shoes are terrific. My son won't wear anything else...I have a pair too and they're great. They pamper your feet: cool, light, rugged and tough looking. Get them wet, play soccer in them, baseball, etc.; it doesn't matter. They can take it. If you like a shoe that appeals to your inner animal (and you don't need a lot of foot support), these are for you. A note about Zappos: terrific. The first pair had a problem with the lacing, and Zappos replaced them immediately with free shipping both ways. I can't believe how good these people are to their customers.

I walk miles on concrete every day and thought the ventilation would be helpful, I was right. These shoes are very comfortable; the fit is good (I usually wear Pumas and DMs). They look great too. The one downside to these shoes, and it was mentioned by other reviewers, is -- the side strap that holds the heel comes loose, requiring occasional adjustment. Maybe I'll pin or sew them, that certainly isn't a deal-breaker and I’ll buy these again if/when this pair wears out.

Salomon's Techamphibian 2 - This shoe is very comfortable, probably the most comfortable I've owned. Looks great with everything. Very light weight and you can wear without socks. Hidden laces, mesh sides (keep feet cool) and collapsible heel are great. I would recommend this shoe to anyone.

I just took these on the hike of all hikes! Kalalau or the napali coast on Kauai. They drain well and clean up well (kauai red dirt). Thought they had good protection and support but the backs didn't want to stay tight for me. I do have narrow feet but didn't think that was a factor. The tread is awesome too! If the backs wouldn't loosen up I would say 5 stars!

My second pair - Got these to replace my previous pair (the 2006 model) and I like them very much although I do have a few quibbles. First, I must say shoes of this type are a revelation. The breathable mesh panels really work to keep your feet cool. Though the panels make the body of the shoe less rigid, the sturdy sole and ingenious construction make this shoe as supportive as any regular running shoe. As for my quibbles, for one the straps/buckles that tighten the heel/back of the shoe are inadequate and don't hold in place. I got fed up with them sliding loose so I sewed them into a fixed position. Two, the thing on the tongue that holds the elaborate lacing toggle is a pain to use and is poorly designed. In sum, I love them and will probably order a reserve pair and leave them new in their box until this pair wears out.

Good shoes! I'm not one to write reviews (not sure how often that sentence is typed). These shoes are amazing! I took these shoes hiking through Arizona mountains and now I'm back in Chicago. I still wear these shoes everyday through rain, snow (no such thing as spring in Chicago), and dry weather. The amount of walking I do in a day puts holes in my shoes within a year and I feel confident that these shoes will be worn for many years. Only one way to find out right?
