These boots look great, but they have some problems. For one, they aren't lined, and the raw unfinished leather inside stains socks (wear black). Also they are huge. I wear a U.S. 10.5 - 11 shoe, and I have these in a U.S. 9 (after exchanging, thanks Zappos!) and they still are not a snug fit. My foot literally comes out of the boot when I step. Insoles and big socks may help. I love Doc Martens, and have worn them for years, but these are not my top picks.

Great boots! I've been a fan of Dr. Martens for a long time. When I needed motorcycle boots, I struggled to find the right balance between comfort, cost, and style. These boots are the best I found in comfort and cost. While lacking some of the features of other motorcycle boots (more protection and waterproof), in the big picture these were the best buy. I've ridden over a thousand miles in them so far and highly recommend them. I can get off the bike and walk in comfort, unlike other riders I've seen. The main downside is that I've soaked some socks since they are not waterproof. But again, this was a tradeoff I was willing to make for the price.

I have owned many DM's over the years, my first pair being bought in NYC in 1984. I bought these boots to replace my too-heavy-for-normal-wear Alpine Stars motorcycle boots. These boots look like engineer boots, but they are as soft and flimsy as women's dress boots. The leather is so soft and thin, the entire boot flops over on itself. There is no protection or support in the ankles. I'm really disappointed in DM in regard to these boots. I know DM's have become fashion statements over the years, but they used to be based upon the original working-man's boot. These boots are a total joke as 'boots.' If you want them purely for looks, you will probably love them. But, if you want actual boots and not high-top soft-leather shoes, don't get them.

Motor Cycle Boots - The service from Zappos was fantastic. As a first time customer, I received overnight shipping as standard. The boots are very comfortable for walking although they are cut somewhat larger than expected. They are easy to put on because of the side zipper, but I would have preferred a slightly stiffer boot shaft. I have worn them for almost three months now and use them exclusively as my motorcycle boot. I am still very happy with them.

I found these boots to be comfortable right out of the box. Offered in medium width only, they have roomy toe boxes and the UK size 9 fit my size 10 2E feet very well. While they certainly have the look of an engineer type motorcycle boot, I can't recommend them for serious bike boot replacement. The sole has good traction, but the leather is way too soft and thin for any real protection. But, overall, I like this boot. And one thing about Zappos - how do you guys do it. I have ordered several pairs of shoes, boots, sandals, over the years, and have always gotten overnight delivery - and free! Great company, great service. Keep up the good work.

Good boots with one issue - no arch support. I recommend a decent set of insoles. The sole is a flexible material that's very comfortable. I wouldn't recommend it for heavy/work use because they may be worn down quickly. The leather is very soft and comfortable. Slight chafing on the heel should be resolved after a few days of use. The zipper's a really nice touch, makes getting in and out of these very easy. Awesome boots for what they are - if you don't need an indestructible boot and you address the lack of arch support, you should be very happy with them.

Converted - I have been riding motorcycles for thirty years, and wearing the Harley Davidson version of this boot for at least that long. I will never buy the H-D boot again. This is the most comfortable riding/work boot I've ever owned. The only thing I'd change would be to make the sole the same color as the boot but its a minor preference that I can live with. There is a break in period, after 2 or 3 days they felt so good I ordered a second pair as a dress boot.

Just what I was looking for - I wanted a pair of engineer style boots, but they also had to be comfortable. These boots are made of softer leather than your typical biker boot, and the side zipper makes them easy on/off. Docs run a bit big, so a UK 6/Mens 7 fit my size 9 women's foot just right. My only complaint is that the black dye on the inside rubs off and stains everything it touches (socks, leg, hands, etc). A bit messy but hopefully that will fade over time.

Great boot for the season! These boots have kept me warm and dry in a Northern winter so far and that's really the most important thing but I love their look and fit! They did have a breaking-in period and one should try to wear thicker socks to avoid blisters but after just a week or so they've taken on a great shape. The leather is very soft and the hardware looks great!

Wonderful boots! These Docs are not your typical Docs but they sure feel like Docs. If youre looking for stylish Doc Martens but want the feel of wearing a shoe, these are it. They are easy on easy off, because of the ankle to lower calf zipper. They are what I expected plus more from Doc Marten. I highly recommend these. The shipping from Zappos was also quick and they upgraded me to priority and did not charge me extra for it.

FANTASTIC! These are my new favorite shoes! Ive owned docs before, among other brands of boots, and these are the most comfortable Ive found yet. They fit perfectly, are comfortably wide, and very well constructed. I highly recommend these! I would simply point out that dr. martens metric to imperial conversion seems a little off, choose a little smaller than you would if your a half size. For example, if youre a 10.5 normally, go with a 10 if youre buying docs.
