Out of the box, these boots had a soft, conforming upper, pliable sole and very light weight. They were very easy to break in. The ESD dissipation never failed, even with cushioned insoles. Yes, you will need insoles, maybe two, if you\'re on your feet all day. They may be good for average daily use, but not if you are in maintenance. The sole wear was normal for an ESD shoe, 50% after a year. One of the lace eyelets came off at 6 months and the sole separated from the upper at the heel at 10 months. After one year of solid use they looked like they had taken three hard years of abuse. Timberland Pro missed the mark on this one.
