I purchased these 3 months ago and have worn them all summer long. They are by far the most comfortable sandal I have ever worn. I wear them hiking, fly fishing, canoeing and always around town or in camp. The only regret I have is that I wear a size 10 1/2 and I opted for the 11. I should have gone with a ten, so keep that in mind. When these wear out (if they ever do wear out) I would buy the 10s. I also found that putting them on the top shelf of the dishwasher is a great way to keep them clean and the straps free to move.

Awesome arch and metatarsal support. The sculpted heel is very rigid, which I'm not accustomed to, but is apparently intended to prevent pronation. I prefer the more neutral heel of the flips. As a guy, I thought the cactus color scheme was sufficiently masculine.

I have been wearing the Chaco Z/1 and 2 series sandals since 1996 and have gone through at least 4 pairs within the past 13 years. I couldn't recommend a better piece of footwear. Whether in cold or hot climates, steep or flat terrain, these work. The integrated orthotic foot bed mitigates foot/knee/back issues, which is imperative for anyone with an active lifestyle. I initially wore a men's 10. However, I have a very narrow foot and have recently discovered that the womens 12 fits my foot perfectly. I am limited to black, of course. But who really cares? They get the job done. Bottom line: these shoes are great.

Not as comfortable as Tevas! I have had this for a month now and have already gone through a box of bandaids. The footbed is very nice, but the top strap tends to cut into your foot no matter how you adjust it. I've had to keep the top strap contact area pretty much taped up to prevent blisters and cutting.

I got a great deal on these and I was excited to try them out and I did, on the streets and sidewalks of Manhattan, for father's day. However, there was something I suspected would be a problem and it was: there was not enough cushioning and the surface of the footbed was too hard. I have serious issues, not with biomechanical problems but simply with the all-too common flat flat, wide feet, overpronation, and the fact that my big toe is bigger than my second toe, so I guess that leads to other problems. One podiatrist says that in itself is a problem potentially causing other problems. Anyway, after a few miles of stop-and-go walking, the bottom of one foot (the ball just above the arch) as well as the tips of the second toes were chafing and sore (because the surface was too hard?) I wanted to know if this will pass and if anyone else has experienced this or if I should move on and stick to my Birkis. I WILL NOT wear sandals with socks; my wife even prefers me wearing these to sneakers but never with socks!

I like the concept of sandals, but for some reason I can't stand the way men's sandals look. The leather fisherman style to me look pretty lame, and most sports sandals, with their velcro straps and all, always look like little kids' sandals. Keen are nice, but they are basically water shoes and not open enough to me to be considered sandals. Thus, I favor flip-flops during the summer, but when real walking is required these just don't cut it. So, to me, these are the perfect thing: a rugged, good looking men's sandal that are substantial, comfortable, and fully adjustable. The footbed is great, and the soles are much more rugged than even Keens. I only have one complaint: the "one piece strap" that makes it fully adjustable also means that itself adjusts to some extent throughout the day. The strap on the forefoot tends to tighten at the expense of the strap with the buckle, which tends to loosen. Not a huge problem, but a slight nuisance, thus the 4 stars rather than 5.

Love Chacos! Bought these for my husband. He loves them. He likes this style because the strap doesn't go between his toes. He loves the arch support. Worth the money you'll spend because they last for years and they are a classic style.

Great sandal, but a little on the heavy side - This is my second pair of Chacos. First pair I had resoled after 3 years of wear. They were a size 10 and my new ones are a size 11. Sizing seems to run a little smaller now. Chaco is a great company and thankfully these are made in USA. My only complaint is the sole type. I like to bike in my sandals, but these are pretty heavy and the soles are a little too aggressive. My first pair had soles made by Vibram, which these are too, but they were smoother without all the excessive tread.

New and improved - I owned the original Chacos and I have been wearing these new ones for a few weeks now and I think they are better than the originals. They are a tiny bit smaller in the exact same size. The strap has changed a little for the better and the footbed seems a bit more contoured. Zappos was very quick on shipping, yes you pay more w/ Zappos but it is worth the service.

Chaco sandals - I was a little hesitant to order these, especially with the price tag, which is a bit heavy for sandals. That being said, my feet are terribly flat and normal flip flops were not cutting it. I got the shoes a couple days after ordering with the free shipping option, so needless to say, the service from Zappos is outstanding and I would not hesitate to use them again. The shoes fit great, I ordered my regular athletic shoe size and they are a tad bigger, but not enough to order a larger size. My service from Zappos was great and I am highly satisfied with my new Chacos.

Chaco's Z/1 Unaweep review - I am 66 years old and have been wearing this type footwear almost exclusively for about six years, including on hikes in swamps and forests in Florida, on mountain and canyon trails in Montana and Utah, in tropical rain forests in Honduras and Costa Rica, and on the tundra in ANWR in northeast Alaska. I also use them as my normal, every day footwear. They are very reliable, rugged, comfortable, durable, and are good for almost any situation.

Fabulous Shoe! Our family has enjoyed Chaco shoes for several years. I ordered this shoe for my son who is in 5th grade and has outgrown the little boy sizes. He needed a sturdy shoe that could be worn on the playground and would provide good support throughout the school day. This is a great shoe and looks nice. What was especially wonderful was that I didn't have to leave my house to find a shoe that fit him! We had tried that a couple of times, which left us BOTH exhausted and frustrated! Thanks, Zappos, for having such a great variety of sizes - and for delivering shoes so quickly (and for making returns hassle-free).

Love them!! Got the men's size to get a wide width - I was looking to get a new pair after my Tevas got too old to be respectable... The women's Chacos are a big too narrow for me, though, so I went with a men's shoe, which is substantially wider. I am very happy with them! They are so comfortable and look great.

Awesome - This shoe is great for anyone who needs a GOOD arch support. I have tarsal tunnel (carpel tunnel in your ankles caused by falling arches - very painful). I can walk all day in this shoe and my feet feel great - no aching, no pain.

Great sandal - Been using these sandals for 9 years. Re-soled them about 6-7 times. Thats one of the best features. You don't have to replace the whole sandal. They are very comfortable. Wish Chaco had a toe protected version like Keens. Alas. Could use a bit more support for days of miles of walking, but these are my everyday sandals during warm weather.

Awesome sandals - I've had many types of sandals...Chacos, Tevas, Naots, Birkenstocks, Olu Kai, etc. This is in the top 2. Very comfortable, very, very good arch support.

Got used to them - I am wearing these sandals and for the most part, I am pleased. They are easy to adjust and that helps. I sometimes feel that the texture of the rubber against my feet is uncomfortable.

Have patience - These are very comfortable sandals once you get them adjusted to your feet. Don't expect to just put them on and start walking. It took me about a week of "tweaking" the straps to each foot to get them to my liking. Once I did, the fit and comfort were great!

These are amazing shoes. My last pair is 7+ years old and I am only getting new ones because I spilled paint on the old. Highly recommended buy and they don't stink like leather sandals.

Great sandal. I really like the straps, very easy! Sandal has good arch (could be a little better) support and is very comfortable. My only complaint would be that is it a little on the heavy side.

If I could wear them to work, I would! This is my 2nd pair of Chacos, my first being the Z2 with the toe strap. I loved the Z2's and still wear them when I need more stability and assuredness, but the toe strap can get annoying. So, I ordered the Z1's and other than work or mowing the yard, I wear them constantly. Now Chaco needs to come up with a pair that has bike clips in the sole! Thanks for the speedy and free delivery Zappos!

First Chacos - My first Chaco purchase. Slightly awkward getting them on and off because of the web strapping system, but overall very pleased.

Great utility sandals, well worth the steep price - Very comfortable. The straps don't chafe at all. I have a wide toe pad and very narrow heels that usually don't stay in heel straps, but these hug my entire foot very nicely. I even played some casual tennis in these! None of the negative comments I've read on here are an issue for me at all (heavy, too much arch).

Chaco is Tops - Purchased my first pair of black Z1's in 2005 and are still going strong. Found the new color combinations to be cool so I purchased my second pair...absolutely love them. They are one of the best sandals for giving your feet great arch support. Recommended by many of the running stores. Well worth the money because they don't wear out!
