Look:These shoes are surprisingly comfortable. I selected 3 pairs of shoes from different designers and although these were not the most expensive, they were certainly the most comfortable. In terms of style they are classic and well put together.

Look:The Melton is a well made shoe. The six eyelets help make a secure fit while looking dressy. The arch support is not great so I added an insert arch. The finish work is good and it looks classy. This is the best price I could find for Johnston & Murphy shoes.

Look:I found these shoes fitting true to size. Like most dress shoes there is a break in period. I have a hard to fit, flat, wide foot. I like this brand; I will buy the wingtip next.

Look:Received the shoes in two days after ordering. Very fast service. Although the shoes were stiff at first, they were comfortable and after a few weeks of wearing them, they are some of my favorite shoes. They look very nice, crisp, professional and well made. People can tell at a glance that the shoes are a quality product.

Narrower than expected - Very well made shoe but they were much narrower than expected. If you have any doubts order the wide.

Leather too shiny - I returned the shoes after receiving them because the leather was too shiny. Otherwise the shoe looked good and was comfortable when I tried them on.

Average comfort level - A nice looking shoe that seems to be on target for size and width. Just not comfortable after a long day of wearing - especially if you’re on your feet a lot (like when dancing).

Perfect right out of the box - I had not bought Johnston & Murphy shoes in a long time, and I was impressed with the appearance and construction. These shoes were extremely comfortable right out of the box.

J & M make a great shoe! Zappos overnighted this pair of shoes to me and they fit like a glove. I have a narrow foot and have always had problems finding narrow shoe. The Melton is comfortable and high quality. It also looks great. I would buy them again in the future.

Solid Shoe - These are solid shoes that look good with a business suit. They are not shoes to walk all day in, but have only worn them 3 times. Maybe they will soften as they break in.

Simple, black, perfect - Just a great all around lace up. Little detailing makes it fit right out of the box. Very classy, good all leather sole so you can take them to the cobbler when you need them reworked.

Very good shoe, very good price - I like to think I try to choose value over strictly form or price. While I make mistakes like everyone else, purchasing this shoe wasn't a mistake. They are a little stiff (let's say "sturdy") as I'm breaking them in, but if "sturdy" is a value in the long-run, then I'll take "a little stiff" in the short-term. The shoe fit, e.g., comfortable, is about as good as this type of shoe is going to fit my foot or anyone else's. I've had no problem wearing this shoe, right out of the box, all day. The shoe looks good: good construction, good, clean stitching, professional. It's hard to tell how long a particular shoe leather will hold a shine, but this shoe shines well out of the box and... so far, so good. I'm pleased with my purchases(s). I think it's a very good shoe, which looks great, at a very good price.

Good Shoes - I wear a 13 narrow and have trouble finding comfortable shoes. These are good fitting and look great. My complaint is that they need a little breaking in. As for Zappos, you can't do better than them for shoes or anything else.

Great essential business shoe - This shoe is true to size. If you need width this is an excellent choice. Beware that the beautiful full grain leather is somewhat stiff and there will be a break in period that will prove to be well worth it. If you are in an environment that requires business dress this is a must in your shoe stable.

Fine pair of shoes - Great shoes, I wear a 10.5 normal width. I ordered the 10.5 and they were too long, I received the size 10 and they fit great. I ordered on Saturday and received the shoes Monday evening, very impressive. My second pair was ordered on Monday (when I realized the 10.5 was too large), the size 10 pair arrived Tuesday night, wow. My size 10 pair had a slight defect in that the hole that was punched out for one of the lace holes had imbedded itself under the leather near the lace hole, I had to cut a tiny slit on the underside, near the lace hole and pull out the piece of hole that had been punched out. No big deal, it was just a weird bubble in the leather until it was removed from underneath. Very comfortable shoes, they started "breaking in" after the first hour.

Good shoe for EEE size - Traditionally, I have been a true 10.5 EEE. And these shoes are a perfect match for me. They are a bit rigid when new, but break in somewhat. The leather is the shiny style. So if you do not like the very polished look, do not buy.

These shoes are very comfortable. Just the right style for the look I wanted. Hard to find large sizes that are also narrow, and Johnston & Murphy always has the size and style I need.

Satisfied Again - I needed a pair of dress shoes and have always liked Johnston & Murphy shoes. I like their style, comfort, and durability. When I received my shoes, they looked better than I thought they would. When I tried them on, they felt broken in as if I'd had them forever. I love them. When it came time to purchase my shoes, it was automatic that I would go straight to Zappos and order with total confidence. I knew that I might be able to buy them for less somewhere, but when it came to service and dependability, price was secondary. Thanks Zappos!

Excellent shoe, but you need to test drive! When I lace up, the leather is as close together as it will go but the shoe is just barely snug -- and loosens slightly during the day. I had a size 9.5 pair for 10 years but needed replacement for a little extra width. I wore them around the house a little and they felt fine. Wearing them all day - the looseness is more evident.

High quality and classic - I normally wear 15 4E, and this 3E shoe has plenty of width. The heel is bowed out and doesn't actually meet my heel yet, but hopefully it will as I wear it. Construction is flawless and quality is legendary.
